June Meeting – Beeswax Uses with the Texas Honey Queen

Past Event

Hayden Wolf

June 10, 7:00 – 9:00 pm
Join us tonight at 7:00 at CC Young to hear Hayden Wolf, the 2014 Texas Honey Queen. Hayden is going to talk about beeswax, some different things you can do with it and how to work it. She will also be demonstrating how to make a beeswax lotion. She’ll have recipes for the lotion to hand out and some finished lotion that everyone can try.

Hayden Wolf, 18, of Big Sandy, Texas, is the youngest of four children. She began beekeeping in 2009 through the East Texas Beekeepers Association Youth Scholarship program and now cares for nine hives with her father. Hayden is a home school graduate, and plans on becoming a registered dietitian in the future. As the Texas Honey Queen she travels throughout the state speaking at schools, fairs, civic organizations, and to the media about the importance of honey bees. She also keeps the public up to date on her journey by posting on the Texas Honey Queen Facebook page and on twitter @TxHoneyQandP.

The Q&A Session starts at 6:45. Come early to get your beekeeping questions answered by our more experienced members in a more informal setting. Also, we will have Alan Eynon with our monthly “In the Hive” and DB Van Gilder’s “Gadget of the Month”.

All meetings are free and open to the public. Feel free to attend even if you don’t know anything about beekeeping–it’s a great chance to see what it’s all about!
