Join us for our November meeting featuring our 2016 scholarship student presentations. You’ll hear all about what’s been going on in our scholarship program this year. It’s also a great chance to learn about getting more involved with TVBA going in to 2017. There is no better way to learn than by teaching! Please let us know if you are interested in becoming a mentor to a scholarship student. If you know a young person who might be interested in applying for a 2017 scholarship, please invite them to come to a meeting! Applications are due by the December 2016 meeting and must be turned in in person.
This month we will also elect our 2017 board members. 2016 has been an incredible year for the club with a lot of growth and new programs. We are looking for a few good people to keep our momentum going! Come out to the November meeting and volunteer or nominate a friend, and above all, vote!
To vote in the board election or serve on the board, you must be a current TV Bees member. You can join or renew in person at the November meeting for $20 per family or $10 for a student, and your membership will be good through December 2017.
Come early to get your beekeeping questions answered by our more experienced members in a more informal setting. The Q&A Session starts at 6:45. Also, this meeting will feature our regular “Bee Plant of the Month” and Alan Eynon with our monthly “In the Hive” to refresh your memory of the beekeeping seasons. See you there!
All meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month and are free and open to the public. You’re encouraged to attend even if you don’t know anything about beekeeping–it’s a great chance to see what it’s all about!
Also in November is the second half of TV Bees’ Beekeeping 101 Seminar, So You Want To Be A Beekeeper. Spring is the best time to start a new hive, and therefore fall is the time to gather the things you need. Bees tend to sell out early, and you will want to have your hive set up well before your bees are set to arrive, so the time to plan is now!
The November class will be held before our regular monthly meeting so that you can attend the class and come to the club meeting afterward. This class will focus on planning for your new hive and developing a list of supplies you will need to start your hive in spring 2017.
