Q&A session: 6:45-7 pm
Main meeting: 7-9 pm
The Point at C. C. Young, 4847 W. Lawther Dr., Dallas (map)
Join us for our July monthly meeting! The main meeting starts at 7 and will feature club announcements, Bee Plant of the Month, Book of the Month, In the Hive beekeeping current events for June, snacks, door prizes and our main attraction: movie night.
Beat the heat with an educational and entertaining film about bees and beekeeping in other parts of the world. Potluck refreshments are encouraged, and the whole family is welcome. Movie night is a very social meeting and a great chance to meet your fellow beekeepers, share stories, and maybe even find a beekeeping buddy from your side of town.
We will also have a quick auction supporting our scholarship program. We will auction a few beekeeping supplies including bee suits, so if your equipment is getting a little worn out, be sure to get some new gear while supporting the club!
This month we will also have a brief pre-meeting presentation by TVBA president Ryan Giesecke. This month’s “Trophallaxis in the Theater” presentation about beekeeping history is free and open to the public. Ryan’s presentation on beekeeping history will encompass early records of beekeeping from ancient times, honey hunting traditions from around the globe, bee-lining as an approach to finding wild/feral bees, early hive designs and their progression towards modern approaches, and throwback hive designs recently regaining popularity. We will also briefly discuss the introduction of honey bees to the New World and their spread across North America.
Want to help out at a meeting? We are always looking for folks to bring snacks and give brief talks on bee plants and books. Click here to see openings and sign up –> TVBA sign up lists
How to find us: Go in the main entrance at The Point and turn left. The main meeting and Q&A session are held in the large meeting room which is the first room on your left. Pre-meeting presentations are held in the small theater at the end of the same hallway, also on the left side. See you there!
